Olivia Wilde says Jordan Peterson inspired Chris Pine’s character in Don’t Worry Darling- Cinema express

Olivia Wilde, who directed the upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling, has revealed that the Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson was her inspiration for Chris Pine’s role in the film. Jordan Peterson rose to fame after his controversial takes on gender politics, post-modern liberalism, and cancel culture became viral online, spurring fiery debates.

Chris Pine is reportedly playing the leader of Victory Project, a cult-like community that is striving to be a model utopian society. In an interview, after praising Pine’s performance in the film, director Wilde explained her reasoning behind the Peterson inspiration. She said, “We based that character on this insane man, Jordan Peterson, who is this pseudo-intellectual hero to the incel community,” she further explained, “They believe that society has now robbed them – that the idea of feminism is working against nature, and that we must be put back into the correct place.”
Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller that follows a young couple living in the 1950s in a company town known as Victory Project. The town is run by an eccentric leader, things unravel as the eerie setting splits the couple apart following the young wife’s investigation into the cult-like community.
