LOTR star Bernard Hill slams Amazon’s Rings of Power- Cinema express

Bernard Hill, best known for portraying King Theoden in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy has come out criticising Amazon Prime Video’s prequel series The Rings of Power. Set thousands of years before the events of LOTR, The Rings of Power premiered its first season on 1 September.

In an interview with Metro, the actor was asked if he had seen the eight-part first season to which he replied in the negative. The actor then went on to say, “It’s a money-making venture and I’m not interested in watching that or being in it. Good luck to them and all that stuff but it’s not like the real thing.”

The Lord of the Rings film series, based on J R R Tolkien’s epic fantasy novel of the same name, ended the trilogy with The Return of the King which was released in 2003. Hill further commented that the Lord of the Rings franchise should have ended with the ROTK. It is worth noting that director Peter Jackson returned to make the prequel trilogy based on Tolkien’s Hobbit in 2012.

Amazon has already greenlit the The Rings of Power for a second season, the production for the sophomore season started in October of this year.
