From Ram Setu to Ini Utharam, a list of OTT releases this weekend- Cinema express


Ini Utharam – ZEE5 (December 23)

Starring Aparna Balamurali, Ini Utharam is a murder mystery directed by Sudeesh Ramachandran and written by Ranjith Unni. The film also features Harish Uthaman, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Chandhunadh, Siddique, Jaffar Idukki and Siddharth Menon.  The story revolves around Dr Janaki, played by Aparna, who confesses to the police of murdering someone. However, the city inspector ignores it. Following the pressure from the media and local people, the police are compelled to explore all the possibilities. The story unfolds with police discovering two bodies, neither of which Janaki claims to have killed.

The Teacher – Netflix (December 23)

With story and direction by Vivek, The Teacher follows the life of the central character played by Amala Paul, whose perfect life goes haywire after a disturbing video involving her goes viral. Now an outcast, the film focuses on the woman fighting to get back her normal life. Besides Amala, the film also stars Hakkim Shah, Chemban Vinod Jose, Manju Pillai, Vinita Koshy, IM Vijayan, among others. It is backed by Varun Tripuraneni, Abhishek Ramisetty, G Pruthiviraj.

Ram Setu – Prime Video (December 23)

This action adventure thriller stars Akshay Kumar as an atheist archaeologist turned believer who must race against time to prove the true existence of the legendary Ram Setu before evil forces destroy the pillar of India’s heritage. Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical- Netflix (December 25)

The musical is about an extraordinarily brilliant girl, who possess knowledge beyond her age and a vivid imagination. As she takes a daring stand to change her story, will the results be miraculous? Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical stars Alisha Weir,Emma Thompson,Lashana Lynch among others. The musical is adapted from Roald Dahl’s famous book Matilda.

Vir Das: Landing

This will be a one-hour long stand-up comedy show where Vir Das will dive deep into his childhood in India, he perils of outrage and finding his feet in the world. This will be the comedian’s fourth Netflix stand-up special.
